E' arrivato il momento: anche nelle aree come il Sud Europa, Italia compresa, dove finora il video on demand è stato una parte residuale del mercato della tv a pagamento, Netflix e gli altri cominceranno a crescere a ritmo sostenuto. Passeranno dall'essere complementari rispetto alla pay tv tradizionale a metterne in crisi il modello.
 
L'anno della svolta, secondo il nuovo rapporto di ITMedia Consulting in uscita la prossima settimana, è proprio il 2017: oggi il video on demand vale 4,25 miliardi di euro nell'Europa Occidentale e crescerà del 16% medio all'anno fino al 2020 quando supererà quota 6,7 miliardi.
