Augusto Preta is an economist and market analyst with extensive experience in digital media markets.
He is Professor of Media Economics and has taught at several Italian universities, including Urbino, Sassari and Università Cattolica di Milano.
He is the founder and CEO of ITMedia Consulting.
With over 30 years of experience, Augusto Preta has advised international institutions and leading industry players across the media and telecommunications sectors. His work has included strategic advisory roles for major operations, such as Canal Plus/Vivendi during the News Corp/Telepiù merger in 2003, as well as projects for Telecom Italia and the Italian communications authority (AGCOM).
He has contributed as an expert to key regulatory initiatives, including the investigation on digital terrestrial television (2009) and the coordination of the White Paper on Content published by AGCOM in 2011.
At the European level, he has been involved in numerous projects and regularly speaks at international conferences.
He is the President of the Italian Chapter of the International Institute of Communications (IIC) and co-founder of MEDEA
Augusto Preta is the author of several books, academic publications and industry analyses, including Content Economics (Vita e Pensiero, 2007), Television and Relevant Markets (Vita e Pensiero, 2012) and, as co-author, La televisione del futuro (Il Mulino, 2023).
